Etymology of rootwrk
Root comes from the Latin word radix, which means starting point.
Work comes from the Latin verb laborare, which means to cultivate or to administer in order to highlight ; conveys the idea of making an effort to achieve something, and it can also imply pain or hardship.
Rootwrk is a coined term derived from our ancestors across the diasporas— Alkebulan, Turtle Island, Mesoamerica, Caribbeans, even the intersectionality between all regions. The term grants praise to our resilient elders for synchronizing all energies and wisdom into various forms of matter. Rootwrk signifies the journey of healing one’s self by utilizing all sensory— to hear, to see, to touch, to smell, to taste.
